Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS Open Beta Revealed, New Trailer Released

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, the highly anticipated fantasy real-time strategy game, has unveiled its first gameplay trailer, showcasing epic battles between the valiant Stormcast Eternals and the cunning Orruk Kruleboys. The trailer immerses viewers in the treacherous swamps where golden-armored superhuman soldiers clash with scheming orcs and their formidable monsters.

Exciting news accompanies the trailer, as Frontier Developments has announced an open beta for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin. The beta will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, commencing from July 7 to July 10. Players can also look forward to a second open beta, scheduled to occur later in the summer.

During the beta, participants will have access to the Kruleboys and Stormcast factions, out of the four factions that will be available at launch. The emphasis of the beta will be on “1v1 multiplayer,” allowing players to experience the exhilaration of skirmishing against each other.

As previously revealed, Realms of Ruin incorporates small-scale skirmish mechanics reminiscent of acclaimed titles like Company of Heroes 3 and the classic Warhammer RTS Dawn of War 2. Players will navigate individual squads, employ special abilities, and vie for control of victory points as they engage in intense 1v1 or 2v2 battles.

The new gameplay trailer also provides glimpses of the game’s campaign, which follows a group of Stormcast Eternals as they endeavor to purge Ghur of the Orruk infestation. The Stormcast Eternals present captivating protagonists, as their ability to reincarnate comes at the cost of losing fragments of their humanity with each death, promising intriguing character development and drama.

While Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin has the potential to join the ranks of the best PC strategy games, it is designed with console-friendliness in mind. The title offers crossplay functionality and introduces DirectStep technology, enabling console players to intuitively control their units using their preferred controllers.

Having witnessed a hands-off demonstration of this innovative control system, anticipation grows for the immersive experience that Realms of Ruin will deliver once players have the opportunity to personally engage with the game.
