Customers weren’t exactly thrilled with the touch-heavy vibes on models like the Golf Mk8 and ID.3. Schäfer even went as far as saying that the earlier touch-centric approach, once championed by his predecessor Herbert Diess, “definitely did a lot of damage” in terms of customer loyalty.
