Everyone who has subscribed to a tier of service, no matter how simple, will have access to the Game Boy Games coming to Switch Online. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, the original Tetris game, Gargoyle’s Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid 2: Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby’s Dream Land are all now available to Switch Online subscribers. Subscribers to Switch Online have the option of playing games on Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, or Game Boy Color screens. Any game that supports multiplayer can be played with up to two players locally or online.
Nintendo today announced the Game Boy games that would be available on Nintendo Switch Online and previewed some of the games that will be added to the service in upcoming updates. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble are the games that Switch Online users may at least anticipate. This is the only game that has been confirmed so far for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, though there may be more on the way.
In the interim, those who have subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack tier have even more to look forward to today. The following titles are coming soon to Switch Online + Expansion Pack: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 and its related e-reader content, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Although the Game Boy Advance games can be played by up to four players, these games allow for both local and online play.
Nintendo also teased with other GBA games that will be released to the service in the future, similar to the Game Boy offers. Future updates for Metroid Fusion, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun will be available to Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.
It appears like 2023 will be an absolutely huge year for Nintendo’s subscription service because there are still certain Nintendo 64 games that haven’t been added to Switch Online, such the Pokemon Stadium games.
