So, Ubisoft’s online racer from back in 2014, The Crew, has vanished from the shelves on Steam. If you swing by its store page, you’ll notice a couple of messages – the first one’s straight to the point: “The Crew is no longer available on the Steam store.” No more green ‘add to cart’ button. Bummer, right? But hold on, you can still snag the free demo if you’re feeling it.
Now, here’s the kicker. All that extra DLC jazz is off the table too. You can’t buy it anymore, and if you missed the boat, tough luck. The message drops the bomb, saying, “The game will stay playable until March 31, 2024, for all you lucky owners. But after that, game servers are pulling the plug, and it’s game over – literally.”
Funny thing, Ubisoft hasn’t officially added The Crew to their list of decommissioned online servers yet. Usually, they give us a heads-up a few months before they flip the switch. Remember when they announced the shutdown of servers for ten games, including some classic Assassin’s Creed titles, back in October? Yeah, it’s kinda like that.
Oh, and quick FYI – the PlayStation 4 version of The Crew is MIA on the PlayStation Store. Xbox users are getting nudged to Ubisoft+ for a play, but digging there only coughs up The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. Looks like it got the boot from Ubisoft’s subscription service too.
