Ubisoft to release ‘Far Cry 6’ and three other titles on Steam platform

Ubisoft has announced that it will be bringing four more of its recent games to the Steam platform. Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Monopoly Madness are set to arrive on Steam on May 11th, June 8th, June 15th, and June 22nd, respectively. Currently, these games are only available on Ubisoft’s own Connect marketplace and the Epic Games Store for PC.

Ubisoft had left Steam in 2019, citing Valve’s up to 30% cut of sales as a factor in their decision. However, the company returned to Steam in the winter of 2022, starting with titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Anno 1800. Earlier this year, Ubisoft released The Division 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion, among other previously unavailable titles on Steam.

The return to Steam came after Ubisoft observed that pre-orders for The Division 2 increased six times when the game was only available on their own storefront. This prompted the company to reevaluate how it could bring its games to different audiences. Though the company has not provided any specifics, it has suggested that the size of Valve’s userbase may be a significant factor in their decision to return to the platform.

Ubisoft’s expansion of titles on Steam is a welcome addition to the platform, especially for players who prefer to have all their games in one place. By bringing more titles to Steam, Ubisoft is providing greater flexibility and convenience for its players while also potentially expanding its reach to Valve’s vast userbase.
