Twitter to discontinue legacy verified checkmarks from April 1st, announces the company

Twitter’s announcement for legacy verified users coincided with the global launch of Blue subscriptions. Formerly exclusively available in specific places, this deployment provides the service to the majority of people. Paying customers will be allowed to make 4,000-character tweets, amend their messages, and enjoy superior reply ranks, in addition to receiving a blue tick next to their usernames. Blue’s availability must be expanded if Twitter is to meet Musk’s objective of generating half of its income from subscriptions. We’ll simply have to wait and see whether enough people worldwide are prepared to pay $8 per month (or $11 if they use the iOS app) for its benefits.
