Given that Twitter’s competitor Instagram has offered a co-author tool since 2021, a co-authoring feature would not be a reach for the social media platform. Many different factors can lead to two accounts wanting to have their identities associated with the same post. These factors include branding collaborations, influencer campaigns, and even simply sharing credit for a humorous post.
The joint tweets are shared with followers from both accounts after they are published, and both accounts’ avatars are displayed at the top left of the post.
There’s no news on when Twitter might start allowing users to collaborate on tweets, or even if the feature will make it past the development stage. Because at least one of Twitter’s competitors already offers a function of this nature, it appears likely that Twitter will want to follow in its footsteps.
