Toto Wolff comes down heavily on inexcusable Brazilian Grand Prix performance

So, Interlagos is usually a sweet spot for the Mercedes car, but this year, the W14 went and surprised everyone by showing it’s basically walking on a tightrope all the time. Unlike other cars strutting around the paddock with a track that suits them just fine, the W14 seems to have commitment issues with every single course. Toto Wolff, the big boss of the Mercedes F1 team, didn’t hold back when he said the car’s performance in Brazil was downright inexcusable.

Lewis Hamilton, the man we usually see on the podium spraying champagne, could only manage an eighth-place finish. And poor George Russell had to call it a day early, thanks to some gremlins in the car.

Wolff spilled the tea without any sugarcoating. It’s like one week they’re living the high life on the podium, and the next, they’ve vanished into thin air. He’s clearly frustrated, and when he talks about the car being on a “knife’s edge,” it’s like saying it’s about as trustworthy as a car missing one wheel out of four. Not exactly a rave review for your Formula 1 ride.

When asked if they could snag a win in the last few races, Wolff didn’t beat around the bush. He straight-up said the car they’ve got doesn’t deserve to taste victory. They’ve already shifted their focus to next season, and the remaining races are basically just going through the motions.

Wolff didn’t dodge the problems either, pointing out the issues with speed and cornering, especially with the big wing chewing through tires like there’s no tomorrow. It’s like Mercedes is in for a tough climb, and Wolff’s frustration is like an obnoxious alarm bell blaring, telling them they need to sort themselves out, ASAP.
