Lenovo’s Legion 5 Pro is the greatest gaming laptop it has ever produced. AMD’s Ryzen 5000 CPUs provide great performance in a stylish 16-inch chassis for far under $2,000 USD. It performed well in every game we played, even at its native 2560 x 1600 resolution. With the 165Hz display, you’ll be able to fully use the Legion 5 Pro’s power.
Aside from performance, the Legion 5 Pro’s 16:10 screen is its standout feature. A screen this tall is rare in the gaming laptop market these days, and it allows for greater multitasking if you want to use the Legion 5 Pro as a daily driver. With 1.5mm of travel and four-zone configurable illumination, the keyboard is also a joy to use.
The Legion’s biggest disadvantage is its short battery life. In our tests, we only obtained around four and a half hours of continuous usage. While this isn’t the worst we’ve ever seen from a gaming laptop, it’s nothing near what the G15 will provide. It does, however, charge really quickly with the provided 300W power brick. Overall, although the G15 is a superior option for those who often work on the move, the Legion is still a good alternative—and we have to give Lenovo credit for the 16:10 screen.
