Top 30 Best-Selling Nintendo eShop Games in Japan for 2022 Revealed by Nintendo

The top 30 selling titles on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop are listed by Nintendo. Since the Nintendo Switch has been on the market for more than five years and is still selling like new, 2022 has been a very successful year for Nintendo. Many of the Nintendo Switch exclusives that fans would anticipate, including Pokemon and Kirby, are at the top of the Nintendo eShop best-seller list. However, there are quite a few surprising titles that weren’t even launched in 2022 that aren’t in the top ten.

Of course, sharing the official rankings for Nintendo eShop titles each year is nothing new. For instance, the well-liked Monster Hunter Rise ranked first among Nintendo’s top 30 titles from the Japanese eShop for 2021. Among Us and Pokemon, Brilliant Diamond came after it. The year 2020 has Animal Crossing: New Horizons when the epidemic first appeared. Despite the fact that the last five years have been somewhat dramatic, the Nintendo Switch generation has been incredibly successful.

The Nintendo eShop’s best-seller list for this year demonstrates that 2022 was yet another successful year. Unexpectedly, Splatoon 3 was the most popular eShop game in Japan. The multiplayer shooter surpassed the annual releases of each Pokemon game. However, no other game could do that, with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Pokemon Violet, and Pokemon Scarlet taking second, third, and fourth place, respectively. The top eShop title from the previous year, Monster Hunter Rise, completed the top five.

It only serves to demonstrate how well Nintendo performed in 2022, despite the lack of depth in the platform’s total releases. Nintendo’s own releases seem to be making up for the fact that third parties may not be supporting the Nintendo Switch as much as in past years. Older Nintendo products make up for where more recent ones fall short. This list makes it clear why Nintendo hasn’t rushed to develop a Switch 2 successor system.
