Pizza ovens are all the rage in outdoor technology, and Ooni is one of the biggest brands in the game. The firm offers a variety of models that use wood, charcoal, or gas to provide a hot-and-fast pizza experience in minutes. Ooni’s ovens offer high-heat cooking for Neapolitan-style pizza, as well as the capacity to bake various varieties, bread, and even sear steaks. Before recently, all of the company’s products have been designed for outdoor usage, but the Volt 12 is the company’s first interior model.
The Volt 12 is Ooni’s first all-electric pizza oven, taking architectural inspiration from the high-end Karu 16. The powder-coated carbon steel exterior and “enhanced” insulation, according to the firm, allow it to be used both indoors and outside. To help you dial in your cooking, a front-mounted control panel has temperature, time, and balancing adjustments. According to Ooni, the balancing dial lets you to tune the Volt 12 for different styles. Also, an optional boost function restores the baking stone to perfect temperature between pies, so you don’t have to wait to start the next one.
You can keep an eye on things with inside illumination for the 13-inch surface and an insulated glass door. According to the business, the oven can reach 850 degrees Fahrenheit in 20 minutes and can heat up quickly enough for Neapolitan-style pizza. In comparison, the multi-fuel Karu 16 takes 15 minutes to reach 950 degrees. If the Volt 12 senses that nothing is being cooked, it will switch off after 45 minutes, according to Ooni. The oven also has built-in handles for mobility, but it weighs over 40 pounds and isn’t simply tossed in the back of a car on the spur of the moment. The Volt 12 is also $999, which is comparable to Breville’s Pizzaiolo, which the firm claims is the first countertop oven capable of reaching 750 degrees and comes with a choice of settings for different types.
Ooni is also showing the outdoor Karu 12G in addition to the Volt 12. This 12-inch variant is a more smaller version of the Karu 16, and it can make pizzas with either wood or gas (gas burner sold separately). The design is similar to its predecessor, with the main change being that an analogue thermometer on the 12G replaces the digital temperature gauge on the 16. The new 12G retains the Karu 16’s wide-leg design, as well as a locking rear leg for added stability.
Ooni claims that the Karu 12G stays hotter for longer than the Karu 12 due to improved heat retention and insulation. There’s also a hinged door that keeps the heat inside and a glass panel for baking views. According to the firm, improved airflow on the Karu 12G results in more consistent cooking on the oven, which can reach 950 degrees Fahrenheit. According to Ooni, new model can reach 850 degrees Fahrenheit 29 percent faster than earlier versions and consumes 46 percent less petrol. The Karu 12G will cost $429, which is more expensive than the $300 Karu 12, but less than half the price of the $799 Karu 16.
