The prequel to John Wick will arrive in Peacock in 2023

The Continental, a three-episode series set before the events of the John Wick flicks, will premiere on Peacock in 2023. NBC said in a press statement that it had secured a “multi-year contract” for The Continental, which was initially scheduled to air on Starz.

The Continental, unlike the movie, will not revolve around Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin. Instead, it will go into the history of the Continental Hotel, which has served as a haven for criminals throughout the John Wick series.

The series is set in 1975 New York City and follows Winston Scott (played by Colin Woodell from The Flight Attendant) as he attempts to take over the Continental Hotel. Ayomide Adegun will play a young Charon, a concierge at the Continental, and Peter Greene will play a young Charlie, the crime scene cleaning specialist who appeared in the first and second John Wick flicks.

Mel Gibson will play a unique character called Cormac, which has sparked considerable controversy owing to prior accusations accusing Gibson of antisemitism, homophobia, sexism, and racism. Ben Robson plays Frankie, Hubert Point-Du Jour plays Miles, Jessica Allain plays Lou, Mishel Prada plays KD, and Nhung Kate plays Yen.

The limited series will premiere around the same time as John Wick 4, which opens in cinemas on March 24th, 2023.
