Starfield Start Screen: Bethesda Team Asserts It’s Not Minimal Due to Lack of Care

Bethesda’s Head of Publishing, Pete Hines, responded to criticism from World of Warcraft designer Mark Kern regarding the start screen of the upcoming game Starfield. Kern had commented on Twitter that the start screen of a game could reveal insights into the development process, suggesting that Starfield’s start screen might indicate hasty shipping deadlines or a lack of care from the development team.

Hines defended the team behind Starfield, stating that the start screen had been a deliberate design choice made by the developers. He also criticized Kern’s comments, calling them unprofessional and questioning the credibility of another developer questioning a team’s care for their project.

Kern responded with a snide comment mentioning Bethesda’s previous games Fallout 76 and Redfall.

Starfield, a highly anticipated action RPG, recently went gold, and players can now preload it on Xbox Series X|S and PC if they’ve pre-ordered the game or plan to play it through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The game’s file size is substantial, ranging from 100.19GB to 139.84GB, depending on the edition and platform.
