Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has introduced the eagerly awaited Galaxy SmartTag2, slated for global release on October 11. This latest addition to the Galaxy SmartTag lineup promises an array of enhancements, ushering in innovative solutions for tracking valuable possessions. With significant upgrades in both design and usability, the Galaxy SmartTag2 presents users with an array of possibilities and peace of mind.
Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics, underlined the company’s commitment to enhancing users’ lives. “With the Galaxy SmartTag2, we aim to make finding your belongings easier and more intuitive. Offering an enhanced tracking experience and prolonged battery life, the Galaxy SmartTag2 ensures greater peace of mind for users,” Jung stated.
Smart Features for Effortless Retrieval
The Galaxy SmartTag2 boasts a groundbreaking Lost Mode, enabling users to input contact information via a personalized message. When someone discovers an item affixed with a Galaxy SmartTag2, they can simply use their smartphone to scan the tag and access the owner’s message and contact details. This feature is a game-changer, making the Galaxy SmartTag2 ideal for safeguarding beloved pets by ensuring that the owner’s phone number is always accessible. Lost Mode works seamlessly with any mobile device equipped with an NFC reader and web browser.
Enhancing user experience, the device offers an improved Compass View feature, using arrows to display the direction and distance to the Galaxy SmartTag2 relative to the user. This function is available on UWB-supported Galaxy smartphones, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The SmartThings Find app has also undergone a significant upgrade. New Galaxy SmartTags are now equipped with a shortcut to the app, allowing for quicker access. The app introduces a full-screen map view and an intuitive interface, providing an even more seamless user experience.
Moreover, when transitioning to a new Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy SmartTag2 now automatically syncs with your device through your Samsung account.
Extended Battery Life and Versatility
The Galaxy SmartTag2 introduces a brand-new Power Saving Mode, alongside an improved Normal mode, for extended battery life. Power Saving Mode ensures that the Galaxy SmartTag2 can last up to an impressive 700 days, doubling the duration of previous models. Even in Normal Mode, the battery life is extended to 500 days, a 50% increase from earlier versions. With these flexible modes, users can track valuable items like keys and bikes for an extended period.
Sleek and Versatile Design
The Galaxy SmartTag2’s compact size and ring-shaped design were carefully designed for user convenience. The robust metal loop on the inside of the ring enhances the product’s durability and supports accessories like clips and keyrings, which can also attach to bags and luggage.
Boasting an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, the Galaxy SmartTag2 can track items in challenging environments, including outdoor activities. For pet owners, the device’s resilience ensures it can withstand wear and tear from pets’ activities.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 includes a new pet walking mode, simplifying the tracking of walks with pets.
Comprehensive Privacy and Security
The Galaxy SmartTag2 leverages Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities, utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology to visually guide users to their items using the Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera. It offers a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters and allows control of smart home appliances through the SmartThings app.
Samsung prioritizes user privacy, with location data only accessible with user consent. SmartThings Find encrypts user data and is supported by Samsung Knox for additional security layers. Lost Mode immediately hides the owner’s contact information and erases the owner’s message from the device.
For Samsung Galaxy users, SmartThings Find includes an “Unknown tag alerts” feature, notifying users of unauthorized tracking attempts.
Seamlessly integrating with SmartThings Station, the Galaxy SmartTag2 enhances item tracking, providing valuable location information for tagged items and pets. Users are alerted when tagged collars move too far from the SmartThings Station.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 sets the standard for valuables tracking, combining innovative features with advanced security, all while ensuring user privacy. Samsung continues to enhance users’ lives with cutting-edge technology, promising an effortless and intuitive tracking experience for all.
