Twitter may soon charge users $8 a month for verification, but Elon Musk is said to be planning to provide all users with a long-requested feature for free: the edit button. According to Platformer’s Casey Newton, the modification is being planned with the more significant improvements to Twitter Blue that Musk hinted about on Tuesday.
For the time being, the edit button on Twitter is only available to members of the current version of Twitter Blue, which costs $4.99 per month and is only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The functionality allows users to edit their tweets within a 30-minute interval and offers a revision history.
Since assuming leadership of the firm, Musk has not publicly discussed (or tweeted about) his plans for the edit button. However, the feature was one of the first Twitter-related things he brought up after acquiring a big investment in the firm earlier this spring. And, only hours after Musk surveyed his followers on whether the platform should include an edit tool, Twitter announced it was working on it.
Simultaneously, Musk is proposing more significant modifications to Twitter’s subscription service. He’s stated that anyone may be verified for $8 per month and that members would see fewer advertising. He’s also rumoured to be aiming to scrap the ad-free articles that are now provided as a bonus with Twitter Blue, instead collaborating with publishers to let subscribers behind paywalls.
