Gunfire Games has rolled out another significant patch for Remnant 2, addressing a wide range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements while also implementing notable nerfs to two powerful weapons, Nightfall and Enigma. This update follows closely on the heels of a comprehensive Remnant 2 hotfix that was recently released for Xbox consoles.
Remnant 2, which originally launched on July 25, received positive reviews and was well-received by fans of the 2019 action RPG, Remnant: From the Ashes. The game boasts a diverse arsenal of weaponry, but it didn’t take long for players to realize that certain weapons were more powerful than others.
One of the standout weapons in the game, Nightfall, has been significantly nerfed in this update. Nightfall is a formidable long gun obtainable by defeating the Nightweaver in Remnant 2. The update reduces Nightfall’s rate of fire in both Standard and Dreadwalker modes. Gunfire Games explained that the original version of Nightfall dealt excessively high damage compared to other options, even those with active Mods, resulting in nearly 20% higher DPS. To balance the weapon, the developers decided to lower its fire rate, bringing it more in line with other high-damage long guns.
The update also targets the Enigma handgun, which had gained a reputation as the ultimate choice for short-range combat in Remnant 2. Gunfire Games conducted a reassessment of the weapon’s capabilities and determined that its area-of-effect shock rods were too effective at clearing enemies. Consequently, the AOE burst damage in Overload mode has been reduced from 40 to 30, and the tether damage from the handgun’s primary fire has been lowered from 75% to 65%. Additionally, Enigma’s magazine size has been decreased from 30 to 25, with the five-bullet difference added to the weapon’s ammo reserve, which is now capped at 125.
While Gunfire Games appears satisfied with the changes to Nightfall, the developers have confirmed that they are not finished balancing Enigma. Specifically, the weapon’s ability to completely ignore enemy armor has been identified as problematic, and Gunfire plans to address this overpowered trait in a future update following additional evaluation.
The player community has generally reacted positively to this update, with many Remnant 2 players noting that Nightfall and Enigma still remain among the best weapons in the game. The nerfs, however, have made other equipment more viable, encouraging greater gameplay variety and reducing reliance on a select few clearly superior weapons.
Gunfire Games’ commitment to balancing and improving Remnant 2 demonstrates its dedication to creating a diverse and engaging gameplay experience for all players.
