Remedy has yet to reveal its co-op Control offshoot, but that isn’t going to stop the company from revealing a proper sequel. Control 2 is being developed together by the business and its publisher 505 Games for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This comes as little surprise given that the two announced a “bigger-budget” title (now known to be the sequel) last year, but it’s excellent news for anybody who misses exploring the Oldest House.
The designers have not revealed any storyline, game mechanics, or release date information. Even the teaser picture reveals nothing more than what seems to be a Control Point. Control 2 will, however, continue to employ Remedy’s Northlight engine, with a budget of $51.5 million. According to Remedy, the work is still in the “concept stage.”
Given the success of the original, and despite the paucity of information regarding the spinoff, the commitment to a sequel seems reasonable. Control has sold 3 million copies since its release in 2019, with 1 million of those copies reaching players’ hands since June of last year. The third-person action game has also gained critical acclaim, with 20 “game of the year” nominations. Just said, the series has long-term success — Remedy and 505 are simply capitalizing on that large fan base.
