Ram officially discontinued the TRX after the 2024 model year, with production of the original 702-horsepower version ending on December 31, 2023. The company released a Final Edition model for 2024, limited to 4,000 units globally, to commemorate the end of the first-generation TRX’s production run. This discontinuation was attributed to the vehicle’s inability to meet stricter automotive emissions regulations and Stellantis’s strategic pivot toward electrification. The absence of a 2025 model year was not a planned production gap but rather a consequence of Ram launching its redesigned 2025 truck lineup approximately seven months ahead of the typical model year release schedule.
The TRX has returned as a 2027 model, unveiled on January 1, 2026, following confirmation from Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa in July 2025 that the truck would rejoin the lineup. The revived model receives a substantial power increase, with the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine now producing 777 horsepower and 680 pound-feet of torque. This represents a 75-horsepower and 30 pound-feet gain over the previous generation’s output of 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet. The power improvements stem from a redesigned airbox that enhances engine cooling and breathing efficiency, combined with a new sports exhaust system featuring an X-crossover pipe configuration and dual five-inch outlets.
The upgraded engine enables the 2027 TRX to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, a four-tenth improvement over the original model’s 4.5-second time. This positions the truck as the most powerful production pickup currently available, exceeding the Ford F-150 Raptor R’s 720 horsepower by 57 horsepower and surpassing its 868 Nm torque figure. The powertrain continues to use an eight-speed automatic transmission, now paired with an upgraded BorgWarner active transfer case that provides a 2.64:1 low-range crawl ratio through the full-time four-wheel drive system. A Dana 60 rear axle handles torque distribution, and the truck includes Launch Control functionality for optimized acceleration runs.
The chassis retains the wide-body design of its predecessor, riding on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires with 299 millimeters of ground clearance. The suspension system incorporates Bilstein active dampers with aluminum components, delivering 330 millimeters of front suspension travel and 355 millimeters at the five-link coil-spring rear. Interior upgrades include a 14.5-inch center touchscreen, wireless phone charging, a head-up display, and red-stitched leather seats with carbon-fiber trim accents and suede headlining. Ram has integrated Active Drive Assist, a Level 2+ hands-free cruise control system, which provides driver assistance capabilities not currently offered in the Ford Raptor R.
The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX carries a base price of $102,590, with limited options available including towing packages, wheel selections, exterior colors, running boards, and the Bloodshot Night appearance package. This pricing undercuts the 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor R by $10,935. Fuel economy is estimated at 10 miles per gallon city, 14 highway, and 12 combined, with an estimated driving range of 396 miles on a full tank. Production is scheduled to begin in summer 2026, with deliveries expected to commence shortly thereafter. The truck’s return coincides with anticipated reductions in federal emissions regulations and represents part of Ram’s sales recovery strategy under brand leadership.
