Well, brace yourselves because Porsche just threw a curveball. Remember all those spy shots teasing the 2024 Panamera? Yeah, they conveniently left out one crucial detail – the Sport Turismo is officially dead. No more wagon magic for us.
A Porsche spokesperson spilled the beans to Automotive News Europe, saying, “In China and the U.S. – our main markets in the D segment – the Sport Turismo plays only a minor role. For this reason, we have decided to discontinue this model variant with the launch of the new generation.”
Now, we don’t have the exact numbers on how unpopular the Sport Turismo was, but word on the street is that it barely scratched the 10 percent mark in sales. So, it’s no surprise Porsche decided to give the wagon the boot.
Looking ahead, the Panamera is sticking to its hatchback roots, with an added bonus – a long-wheelbase Executive model for that extra touch of luxury and legroom in the back. This generation marks the end of the road for combustion engines in the Panamera lineup. While a full EV isn’t on the cards to avoid stepping on the Taycan’s toes, Porsche is giving us four plug-in hybrid flavors to savor. The times, they are a-changin’!
