Pokémon Presents: What to Expect from the Upcoming Event on February 27th

The latest Pokémon Presents event is set to take place on February 27th at 9AM ET, which also happens to be Pokémon Day. Fans of the popular franchise can expect the live stream to last around 20 minutes and can watch it on The Official Pokémon YouTube channel.

While The Pokémon Company has been tight-lipped about what will be revealed, it’s possible that paid expansions or other updates to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which were released in November, could be announced. Despite technical issues, the two games sold over 10 million copies in their first weekend and 20 million copies by the end of 2022, making it the fastest-selling game launch in Nintendo’s history.

It’s unlikely that the next mainline entries in the series will be revealed, given the recent release and bugginess of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, we may hear details about Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Pokémon games coming to Nintendo Switch through the Switch Online service, as Pokémon Day marks the anniversary of the first games in the series.

The livestream may also cover updates to games like Pokémon Masters Ex, Pokémon Unite, Pokémon TCG Live, and Pokémon Go. Speaking of the latter, developer Niantic recently faced backlash after asking players to purchase a $30 pass to join a Pokémon Go event at a public park in Las Vegas. The event saw an influx of 17,000 people who did not pay for tickets, leading to connectivity issues and a poor experience for many. Niantic later offered in-game goodies to compensate those who paid for the event.
