A couple of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players discover a wall that their character can wall-run across during a regular multiplayer match. While wallrunning has previously been featured in the Call of Duty franchise, specifically with the Exo suits of Advanced Warfare and the futuristic tech of Black Ops 3, it was not included in the recently released Modern Warfare 2.
In fact, Infinity Ward’s latest game did alter the movement system that fans have grown accustomed to over the course of the series long history. During the Call of Duty Next presentation, Infinity Ward revealed new mechanics such as the ledge grab and the infamous return of the “dolphin dive” mechanic, which allows players running at full speed to dive to the ground by holding the crouch button. Fans have apparently discovered another movement technique that was clearly not intended to be included in the full release.
Shmooookk, a TikTok user, posted a new video showcasing a strange spot on the Taraq Village map in Modern Warfare 2 where players can actually wall run if approached at the correct angle. As perplexing as it was to discover by chance, shmooookk and their teammate continued to test the mechanic, demonstrating ways to chain wall run into a slide or the previously mentioned dolphin dive. Again, it’s a very limited move that is unlikely to cause anyone to dominate a match.
It’s worth noting that, for the time being, this movement technique has only been proven to work on this specific wall within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. While there aren’t many uses for it, and combat encounters in this area of the map will be very specific, if used correctly, it can be used to get a surprise drop on an unsuspecting enemy player, giving them no time to react. However, when one dolphin dives off the wall, the technique could be used to fly over the map, resulting in a character spinning off of it like a helicopter.
While it appears to be innocuous, Infinity Ward will most likely clean it up in a future patch. For the time being, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 still has priority issues that the studio is likely to address first, such as the game crashing and some exploits discovered in the community. According to Infinity Ward, one nasty issue relating to a game crash when Modern Warfare 2 players attempt to join a party should be resolved this weekend.
