Pierre Gasly didn’t mince his words following a tough night at the Singapore Grand Prix, where he crossed the line in a disappointing 19th place. It marked another dismal weekend for the French outfit, who left Marina Bay empty-handed for the fifth race in a row.
His teammate, Franco Colapinto, managed only 16th place, extending the team’s scoreless run despite entering the weekend hopeful that Singapore’s tight layout might better suit their car.

A Tough Weekend From the Start
Gasly’s race was compromised before it even began, as he was forced to start from the pit lane. The issue stemmed from a reliability failure during qualifying that left his A524 stranded in a runoff area.
“Today was always going to be difficult, especially with the pit lane start,” Gasly explained. “I haven’t felt comfortable in the car lately, so we changed the setup and floor to understand a few things better, which should help us in future races.”
Despite battling throughout the evening, the Frenchman knew points were never within reach. “The team is working really hard, but we all know we’re far from where we should be,” he added.
Alpine’s relentless Form Slide
Alpine’s 2025 campaign has been defined by inconsistency and lack of pace. While Gasly has scored points on four occasions this season, the team’s overall performance has left them at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship.
Colapinto, who replaced Jack Doohan after just the Miami Grand Prix, is still chasing his first Formula 1 point. His best result remains an 11th-place finish earlier this season, and his outing in Singapore did little to change that. Alpine has put the young driver in the crosshairs as they look to the future, and these performances are not doing any favours.
Colapinto Fights Hard But Misses Out
Colapinto started on soft tyres in a bold strategy call that helped him gain positions off the line. He found himself battling in the midfield early on but faded as tyre wear set in.
“It was a long race with a lot of close battles, which was fun, but we didn’t have the pace,” Colapinto said after the race. “We pitted early to try an undercut and make up ground, but the degradation was high, and the blue flags made it harder to defend.”
The Argentine finished 16th, with all 20 cars reaching the chequered flag — a rare occurrence that further limited his chances to climb up the order.
Gasly Looks Ahead to Austin
Despite another difficult outing, Gasly remains optimistic that Alpine’s fortunes could improve in the next round at the Circuit of the Americas.
“I’m confident we can do better in Austin,” he said. “The last few tracks haven’t suited our package, especially with the lack of grip and street circuit bumps. Hopefully, things will turn around next time.”
Alpine now trails Haas by 26 points in the Constructors’ standings, with just a few rounds remaining to salvage pride before the season ends.
