Persona 5 Royal introduces new female protagonist option for players

Persona 5 Royal, the popular game released last year on multiple platforms, has now received a brand-new mod that allows players to experience the game with a female version of the protagonist, Joker. The Persona modding community has been active since the game’s initial release, creating a variety of mods including new costumes, Personas, and aesthetic or mechanical changes. However, the female protagonist mod has been a highly anticipated addition and has been in development for several years.

The mod was created by Chlorophylls, who had been working on the female version of Joker since 2019. After Persona 5 Royal was released on PC, Chlorophylls moved the project to this platform and has now released the first version of the mod. The female protagonist mod includes a range of changes, including a new costume with a rose on the lapel, longer hair styled in a knot, and a variety of outfits such as a female Shujin School Uniform and a maid outfit.

In addition to the cosmetic changes, there are other modifications that reflect the protagonist’s gender, including new loading screen sprites, in-battle graphics, social stat labels, and limitations on the equipment she can wear. The voice clips for Joker have also been replaced in both languages, with Maaya Sakamoto voicing Joker in Japanese and Alexa Farron/VentyWenty in English. The mod includes four male and four female romance options, and there are limitations on the number of Confidant slots available, resulting in some romance routes being cut from the original game.

Overall, the Persona 5 Royal female protagonist mod offers players a new and unique way to experience the game, and the full list of changes and FAQs can be found on the GameBanana page where the mod is available for download.
