The decision to part ways with Denuvo was likely influenced by a passionate and heated discussion that unfolded on the game’s subreddit. Hundreds of fervent fans voiced their concerns about the inclusion of Denuvo, a DRM system often associated with performance issues on PC.
While neither Starbreeze nor publisher Deep Silver initially responded to the Reddit thread, it appears that someone took heed of the fan outcry. Subsequently, all references to Denuvo have been purged from the game’s Steam store page, signaling a victory for the vocal community.
Payday 3 is poised for release on multiple platforms, including PC (Steam/EGS), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the launch date set for September 21. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also anticipate diving into the action on day one.
Additionally, Starbreeze Studios has unveiled an ambitious plan for seasonal DLC content, ensuring that fans of the cooperative action game will have a full plate in 2024. The lineup includes four planned DLCs, beginning with the Syntax Error DLC, scheduled for later this year. Subsequent releases will feature Boy in Blue, The Land of the Free, and Fear and Greed DLCs, all slated for 2024.
