Jared Neuss, who is the executive producer of Overwatch 2, has mad an announcement that may not go down well with members of the gaming community. Off late, the skins for Overwatch 2 characters have attracted premium prices, and while gamers are showing their annoyance, it looks like Blizzard has no choice but to keep this pricing model as it is the most sustainable for them at the moment.
“Over the last year, we’ve made a lot of changes to the way that we monetize the game to the way that we release skins and other content,” Neuss says. “I think it is sustainable. I mean, there are loads of games that do this exact same thing.”
Players have voiced their displeasure online with some sarcastically claiming that “you’d have to play 327 years of Overwatch 2 to get these for free or pay $10,000”. When it comes to the latest collaboration with K-Pop band Le Sserafim, the new skins will cost players 2500 coins or $25. They can also choose to buy a 5-skin bundle for 6800 coins, which is $67. These are pretty high prices for in-game content, but this is what players will have to deal with going forward, as the prices will only increase, unless Blizzard can find another way to keep their company sustainable.
