Activision Blizzard has added a new Mei skin to Overwatch 2, despite the fact that she has yet to be reintroduced to the game after being removed last month due to a fault with one of her abilities. Mei was deleted from Overwatch 2 with an October 31 update, but it’s unknown when she’ll return to the playable roster, while her skins continue to appear in the store.
Steelvengeance55, a Reddit user, just submitted an Overwatch 2 store image featuring the new Epic Mei skin, which is available for 1,000 Overwatch Coins. Although many Overwatch 2 players complain about the cost of store cosmetics, the main issue many have with this Mei skin is that they can’t play the hero on whom the skin is based.
Steelvengeance55’s Overwatch 2 store graphic depicts a conventional Mei outfit with an orange, pink, and turquoise colour palette instead of blue and off-white. The new Mei skin, Retro Star, was released today in the Overwatch 2 store and has a star on the hero’s chest with a pink stripe next to it. Much of Epic Mei’s armour is orange and pink, with turquoise trim that complements the character’s hair, which is a more colourful hue than her typical brunette tone.
Mei is still disabled, yet they release a new skin for her that costs $10? from Overwatch
The Epic Mei skin has been added to the Overwatch 2 cosmetic store today, but many fans of the frosty hero are still waiting for her return to the hero roster. Because Mei has many followers in the Overwatch 2 community, some players want to buy the cosmetic but aren’t sure when they’ll be able to utilise it in the hero shooter. Activision Blizzard has confirmed that Mei would return in the midseason patch, however, the Overwatch 2 update has been postponed until an unspecified date owing to a significant problem that has yet to be fixed.
Although many fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with Mei’s absence from the game but not from the daily store, others have critiqued the aesthetic of Retro Star by comparing it to other Overwatch cosmetics such as McDonald’s Tracer. While some Overwatch 2 players were quick to point out that the cosmetics development team is different from the one working on Mei, others remain confident that Activision Blizzard will be able to patch the hero quickly.
