As BeReal’s popularity grows, other platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat have begun developing features that are similar — if not identical — to it. Leaks revealed IG Candid in August, while Instagram said at the time that it was merely an internal prototype and not accessible to the public. Snapchat’s dual camera function is similar to BeReal in that it allows users to shoot images with both the front and rear cameras at the same time, but it does not go so far as to send random alerts every day urging users to post. So far, BeReal has captivated people as a type of anti-social media social media network, despite the fact that it is currently rather barebones. Other platforms are most certainly experimenting to see if they can do it better.
