Nintendo Restores Online Play for ‘Mario Kart 8’ and ‘Splatoon’ on Wii U Starting August 3rd
Nintendo has finally fixed a security vulnerability that prompted the shutdown of online services for Wii U versions of Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon back in March. Both titles will be available for online multiplayer again as of August 3rd. The security flaw, known as “ENLBufferPwn,” allowed intruders to take over the console when it went online. While Nintendo fixed the bug for affected Switch titles last year, it took several months for the company to address the issue for the Wii U versions.
