Sackboy: A Big Adventure, one of the original launch titles for the PlayStation 5, is receiving a new outfit and emote to celebrate the New Year. Sumo Digital developed the game, which has received post-launch support for nearly two years. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a LittleBigPlanet spinoff that follows Sackboy in another platforming adventure that can be played with others in both local and internet coop.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure was published on PC after its initial release for PlayStation, continuing Sony’s pattern of releasing PlayStation exclusives on PC after its premiere on the console. Sony recently confirmed at The Game Awards 2022 that Returnal and The Last of Us Part 1 will be the next PlayStation titles to be released on PC. Staggered releases and continuous support for post-launch material are two reasons why PlayStation exclusives are prolonging customer engagement.
Sony’s support for Sackboy: A Big Adventure continues with a statement from the official PlayStation Twitter page that the platformer would get a new outfit and gesture to welcome the New Year. A photograph of Sackboy in his new outfit with Happy New Year glasses and confetti streamers has been added to the post, with fireworks going off in the background. Other outfits from Sackboy: A Big Adventure are also visible in the shot, as are other Sackboys enjoying the New Year.

In the comments, fans of Sackboy: A Big Adventure expressed their enthusiasm for the series. One fan expressed a desire for new outfits in 2023 based on forthcoming game releases such as Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy. Another user mentioned missing the LittleBigPlanet series, while a few others asked for the game to be brought to Sony’s new streaming services PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium.
The PlayStation first-party roster includes just one other game like Sackboy: A Big Adventure, so the sustained backing is comforting for those hoping for a mainstream series revival. The adorable creative platformer would also offer a lot of value to Sony’s PS Plus streaming repertoire, but no plans to include it have been revealed as of yet. Fans may perhaps look forward to seeing more of Sackboy in the future, whether it’s in the shape of a sequel or a return to the regular LittleBigPlanet series.
