A Minecraft modder has created versions of some of the game’s mobs, using a variety of skins to give some of the residents new appearances. The 2011 sandbox title already has a lot to see and do, and Mojang is about to release update 1.20, which will add even more content. Then there’s the fan base, which is always releasing its own unique modifications in order to truly give the universe its near-infinite appeal.
Given that mobs are an essential part of the Minecraft experience, having more to observe and interact with would only add to the diversity. From hardworking villagers to the animosity of skeletons, zombies, and Endermen, the company has introduced a plethora of NPCs to the game since its first release more than a decade ago. There are now even more for gamers to see as they cavort throughout the blocky world.
According to PCGamesN, modder nyuppo has posted this latest project, which puts variants on several of Minecraft’s critters. According to the description on Curse Forge, a resource site that caters to all kinds of modifications for the game, “More Mob Variants” features new skins, including three for the cat, eight for the chicken, including a skeleton form, five for the zombie, including an Alex skin, and more. There are about 40 new skins for these specific monsters, while there has been no word from the modern on whether other NPCs will receive their own versions.
Even though the game is already massive, the modding community has continued to add new features and concepts. Some Minecraft modifications, such as one that adds a full colony to the globe or another that transports players to outer space, drastically change the game’s vibe. Things like these, as well as the developer’s official updates, help to explain why the game feels so long.
The fact that Mojang is working on Minecraft Legends, an action strategy spin-off, demonstrates how much life remains in the company’s IP. It appears that the gaming community is not yet ready to abandon the sandbox title, and with the 1.20 patch on the way, it appears that it will be a long time before players abandon the game, especially if modders continue to release their own content for it.
