Microsoft has dropped that annoying Windows 11 pop up

Hey there, Windows 11 users, we’ve got a bit of a plot twist from Microsoft. So, you know that OneDrive sync client, right? The one with the little cloud icon in the far-right corner of your taskbar? Well, Microsoft tried something new – a pop-up. When you closed the sync client, you got a heads-up that your files wouldn’t sync anymore – fair enough. But here’s the kicker: some users also got a follow-up survey asking why they were saying goodbye to OneDrive.

Now, folks had feelings about this. Some said, ‘I don’t want OneDrive always running in the background,’ and others went with ‘I don’t even know what OneDrive is.’ If you fall into the latter category, no worries – we’ve got a guide for you on using this cloud storage service.

But guess what? The survey idea didn’t sit well with many Windows 11 users, and Microsoft heard the feedback loud and clear. They pulled the plug on the pop-up survey, stating that it was just a temporary thing for a small bunch of users between November 1 and 8. Microsoft mentioned they got enough feedback to call it a day, and that input is helping them fine-tune their products.
