Megadeth and Wargaming Unite for Metal Fest Collaboration, Embracing Heavy Metal Vibes

Gaming enthusiasts and metal fans are in for a treat as Wargaming, the powerhouse behind the World of series, joins forces with iconic thrash metal band Megadeth for an exciting collaboration named Metal Fest. This dynamic partnership introduces an array of themed content across multiple multiplayer military games. Scheduled to kick off on August 28 and extend through September, Metal Fest promises an immersive experience that merges the worlds of gaming and metal music.

Among the titles benefiting from this collaboration are World of Tanks and World of Warships, both renowned for their realistic military gameplay. The Metal Fest event injects a vibrant Megadeth touch into these games, delighting players with a plethora of fresh content and features inspired by the band.

World of Tanks, a flagship game in Wargaming’s portfolio, takes center stage during this limited-time event. Players will encounter two new branded tanks meticulously designed to capture the essence of Megadeth’s albums “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?” (1986) and “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!” (2022). This infusion of classic and contemporary album aesthetics ensures that both longtime fans and newcomers find familiar elements to enjoy. Even gamers equipped with top-tier devices, such as the best gaming phones, won’t miss out—the mobile version, World of Tanks: Blitz, introduces animated tank skins inspired by various Megadeth albums.

Beyond album-inspired elements, the collaboration also pays tribute to the band members. All four current members of Megadeth—vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Kiko Loureiro, and drummer Dirk Verbeuren—are featured as 2D commanders. An exciting revelation is the transformation of the band’s skeletal mascot, Vic Rattlehead, into a 3D operator complete with voiceovers. This marks the first appearance of Vic Rattlehead in a video game, a pivotal moment for fans who have followed Megadeth’s journey since its inception.

World of Warships joins the Metal Fest celebration with the USS Marblehead Cruiser adorned with Rust in Peace iconography. Gamers can assume the roles of either Mustaine or Vic Rattlehead as 2D commanders, steering the vessel through intense battles while accompanied by the band’s iconic tunes.

Dave Mustaine, Megadeth’s founding member, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Wargaming, noting the immense popularity of their games. Mustaine highlighted the importance of featuring all band members within the games, emphasizing the collective experience of engaging in virtual battles.

While this collaboration marks Megadeth’s foray into the gaming world, it is not their first interaction with the medium. The band previously featured prominently in rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, adding to their legacy in the gaming realm.

As the gaming and heavy metal genres continue to intertwine, it’s conceivable that more collaborations like Metal Fest will emerge, contributing to an exciting and immersive gaming experience for fans worldwide. With Metal Fest’s launch just around the corner, players can eagerly anticipate a harmonious fusion of two captivating worlds.
