Mazda’s keeping the current-gen MX-5 around for a joyous while! According to Shigeki Saito, the Miata’s Program Manager, they’re in no hurry to usher in the next-generation model. In fact, Saito spilled the beans that they want to keep the ND (that’s the current-gen MX-5) “for as long as possible.
” There’s no electric Miata revving up soon either, as Saito spilled the beans that going electric now would bulk up the lightweight roadster, and Mazda’s waiting for batteries to shed some pounds.
But hold your horsepower, there’s more in the pipeline! Saito hinted at exciting plans for the ND, teasing “something very cool” in the works. Get ready for some revved-up special editions, maybe even a celebratory 35th-anniversary model in 2024.
