One of the biggest esport events in the world, the finals of the League of Legends World Championship are all set to take place next year at the iconic O2 arena in London. The competition will see players from around the world fight it out for the epic Summoner’s Cup trophy as well as a prize pot.
This announcement follows the conclusion of the recently conducted League of Legends mid-season invitational tournament, which took place at the Copper Box Arena, which was also used for the London Olympics. The event was so well received that the decision was taken to host the finals of the flagship tournament in London as well.
London has hosted League of Legends events in the past, but this is the first time it will host a final, and as a result, it will cement itself as a major esports hub in the European zone.
“We’re thrilled to bring the World Final to the UK for the first time,” Naz Aletaha, the Global Head of League of Legends esports at Riot Games said in a statement. “Worlds is a global celebration of the best of League of Legends, and London’s rich history and modern metropolis is a perfect backdrop for the biggest stage in our sport.”
The final has been scheduled to take place on November 2nd, 2024, and ticket sales for the event will go live sometime next year itself. Other important dates and venues for the other stages of the tournament will be intimated on the official social media channels of League of Legends.
