Instagram said it is attempting to resolve the issue of recurring stories
Instagram Tales appear to be acting up for some users, requiring them to review all of someone’s stories before they can see new ones. Since yesterday, numerous Verge staff employees have been afflicted by the issue, and other Reddit users have stated the same thing is happening to them.
In an email, Meta representative Christine Pai stated that the business is “aware that some customers are having difficulty accessing Instagram Stories.” Pai apologized for the disruption and stated that Instagram is “trying to bring everything back to normal as soon as possible.”
The underlying problem appears to be that Instagram does not remember where you left off when viewing someone else’s stories. For example, if one of my friends has posted five tales and I read four of them before swiping away, I should see their fifth story the next time I tap on their symbol. Instead, each time I want to view the story, Instagram makes me go through the four I’ve already seen. The issue also arises when someone adds a new story to their feed.
It is presently unknown how many users have been impacted. There are a lot of people on Twitter complaining about having to rewatch stories, but Instagram isn’t trending the way I’d expect it to if a significant aspect of it was broken for everyone.
