Although Xbox Live Gold offers monthly savings on the Microsoft Store, the majority of the subscription’s essential services are now available to all modern Xbox owners for free. However, an Xbox Live Gold subscription is still required for an Xbox 360. Concerning the future of Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft began phasing down the Xbox Live name last year, instead referring to the collection of software and services as the Xbox network.
