Huawei has just announced the MatePad 12 X 2025, bringing in its signature PaperMatte Display and some solid hardware upgrades. The tablet sports a 12-inch LCD screen offering a resolution of 2800 × 1840 pixels, up to 1,000 nits of brightness, and a fast refresh rate that can scale up to 144Hz. Huawei’s PaperMatte coating is a key highlight here, and while it does come with many pros, one of the major talking points, is that it’s made to reduce glare and give you a feel that’s closer to actual paper, making it easier on the eyes, especially if you read or draw a lot.
The PaperMatte display is also designed to keep things comfortable outdoors and goes well with a stylus, including the Huawei M-Pencil Pro, which adds to the device’s usefulness for note taking or sketching.
Inside, the MatePad 12 X 2025 runs on the Kirin T92B chipset and is paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. To manage heat, the tablet comes equipped with a 3D vapor chamber. The device comes loaded with HarmonyOS 4.3 right out of the box.
On the back, there’s a 50 MP main camera with an LED flash, and you get an 8 MP front-facing camera for video calls. For audio, Huawei has added six speakers and dual microphones for clear sound whether you’re watching videos or on a call. Powering the tablet is a 10,100 mAh battery and it supports fast charging up to 66W. In terms of connectivity, you get dual-band Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2.
The MatePad 12 X 2025 weighs in at 555 grams and is 5.9 mm thin. It is available in Green and White and is priced at £599 for the 12GB/256GB Wi-Fi–only version.
