Over the years, Google has made the Android mobile operating system more focused on safety and privacy. With natural disasters coming with little to no warning, Android smartphones have an in built feature that telecasts or broadcasts emergency alerts whenever they are relayed from the authorities. This feature is known as Emergency Alerts or Amber Alerts. Not only does this keep you up to date with emergencies, but also gives you ample time to react and take protective actions.

There are many types of Alerts that you can receive through this feature –

  1. Emergency Alerts – Receive warnings about life-threatening events.
  2. AMBER Alerts – Receive Child Abduction emergency bulletins.
  3. Extreme Threats – Notifications related to extreme threats to life and property.
  4. Severe Threats – Notifications related to severe threats to life and property.
  5. Public Safety messages – Recommended actions that can save lives and property.
  6. Required Monthly test – Receive test messages for the safety alert system.
