When mobile phones were a few generations old, most of the tasks were manually performed. One such task was adding and sharing contacts. Every time you bought a new smartphone or feature phone, the first thing you would do is work on how to transfer the contacts between the devices. One option was to export the contacts and then share it with the new device. If for some reason, this did not work, the only option was to manually enter the contacts into the new device.
However, with the emergence of the Android OS and its deep integration with your Google account, transferring contacts between devices is almost automatic. The only thing you need to ensure is that your Google Account on the present Android smartphone has the contact syncing option turned on.
This is how you can do it.
Table of Contents
Open the ‘Settings‘ on your Android smartphone.
Scroll through the list and type on the ‘Account and Sync‘ option.
Tap on the ‘Google‘ option from the Accounts menu.
Tap on the Google Account you want to use and sync the contacts.
Make sure you check the ‘Contacts‘ option.
Once you do this, the contacts will sync to the selected Google account. Now, whenever you buy a new Android smartphone, just sign in with the Google Account that you used for syncing the data on your older device, and in a few seconds, your contacts will show up on the new Android smartphone. It is that simple.
Now, once again, there are a few apps that claim to assist you with this whole data migration, and while some of them do work, our frank assessment is that they are not necessary. The Android platform is powerful and is more than capable of handling such tasks without assistance.
