Youtube Red went on for a few years until Youtube decided to do yet another rebrand, and in 2018, the world got its first look at Youtube Premium. This rebranding was launched alongside a dedicated Youtube Music service which is more focused on the music streaming competition.
A Youtube Premium membership allows users to watch videos on YouTube without any interrupting advertisements across the platform (website and the app), including the dedicated YouTube Music, YouTube Gaming, and YouTube Kids apps.
Subscribers to the Youtube Premium service can also download videos for offline viewing, play the audio of the videos in the background, and also make use of the picture in picture feature of the Android smartphone, as long as the OS version is Oreo and higher.
