The group in question is Folding@Home, and the technology we are talking about is shared computing. This is an initiative that was started by a group of enthusiasts worldwide, and thanks to the stupendous response of users across the globe, Folding@Home is now churning out 470 PetaFLOPS of raw compute power. This is faster than not only the Summit Supercomputer, but also faster than 7 of the world’s best supercomputers combined.
