‘Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions’ Takes Wizarding World’s Broomstick Sports Online in New Game Release

Harry Potter fans are in for a treat as a new game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, has been announced by WB Games. The game, described as a “fast-paced, competitive multiplayer” title, is being developed by Unbroken Studios, known for its work on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game will be available on PC and consoles, and according to a newly published FAQ, players will need an online connection to play.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is being billed as a complete standalone Quidditch experience, offering players the chance to engage in the sport and other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive multiplayer setting. The FAQ also confirms that author J.K. Rowling was not involved in the creation of Quidditch Champions, and the game is not a direct adaptation of any of the existing Harry Potter books or films.

The announcement of the new game comes amidst controversy surrounding Rowling’s transphobic views. Some fans chose not to purchase or play Hogwarts Legacy, a game set in the Harry Potter universe, due to Rowling’s views. The FAQ for Quidditch Champions also notes that Rowling was not involved in the game’s development.

Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of WB Games, is also reportedly working on a new live-action adaptation of all seven books in the Harry Potter series. However, a release date for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions has not been announced. For now, interested fans can sign up for “limited” playtests of the game.
