Google’s innovative Circle to Search feature is reportedly getting an upgrade that will enhance its functionality with message bubbles in the upcoming Android 15 update. Currently, this AI-powered visual lookup tool ceases to operate when a message bubble is opened, but changes in the software might allow users to access this feature even in expanded message windows.

Circle to Search: Enhanced Functionality
According to a recent report from Android Authority, the ability to use Circle to Search while message bubbles are active is on the horizon. At present, users invoke this visual lookup tool by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar, both of which become inaccessible when message bubbles are open. However, after examining the source code for Android 15, the publication discovered references that suggest a potential activation of the feature even with message bubbles displayed.
The Circle to Search feature enables users to highlight areas on their screen by circling objects or text, facilitating visual searches across the web. This includes functionalities such as scribbling, circling, or drawing over items on the display. The ability to use this feature with message bubbles would significantly enhance the user experience by allowing seamless multitasking.
Expansion to More Devices
In addition to the new functionality, Google’s Circle to Search is expected to be available on a broader range of Android devices, moving beyond its initial exclusivity to Samsung and Google handsets. Reports indicate that the Xiaomi 14T series may be one of the first non-Google or Samsung devices to receive this feature, with a launch event scheduled for September 26 in Berlin. Additionally, the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2, which recently debuted alongside the Phantom V Flip 2, is also anticipated to roll out this innovative feature.
