Safety Measures and Transparency

While Google is venturing into AI-generated images, it has implemented safety measures to ensure compliance with the company’s policy for generative AI. Content that contradicts Google’s guidelines, including promoting illegal activities, spreading misinformation, or generating explicit material that lacks educational or artistic value, will be blocked. Additionally, every AI-generated image will be marked with “metadata labeling” and a watermark indicating its AI origin. In the future, AI content will also feature an “About This Image” description, providing important context to users.

Initial Availability and Limitations

Google has introduced this test primarily to English-speaking American users who have opted into the SGE program. Users must also be 18 years or older to access this feature. Notably, not all users will have access to this tool, and availability may be limited. The company has not provided specific information regarding international releases.
