Google’s Pixel Watch, a relatively recent contender in the smartwatch market, is making strides to catch up to its competitors by introducing new features. The latest update for the Pixel Watch includes the highly anticipated blood oxygen tracking functionality. Similar to its counterparts, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch, Apple Watch, and Google-owned Fitbit trackers, the Pixel Watch will now monitor users’ blood oxygen saturation levels while they sleep and provide notifications of any notable changes.
While Fitbit features were integrated into the Pixel Watch upon its launch, some users encountered issues with the availability of recent health data, such as walks and sleep time. It remains to be seen if this problem will persist with the addition of blood oxygen tracking.
In addition to blood oxygen tracking, the Pixel Watch update encompasses several other enhancements. Users can expect the watch to monitor their heart rate and send alerts in the event of irregularities. Moreover, Google Assistant will now be available in more languages and locations, while three new Spotify tiles have been introduced to enhance the music experience. Additionally, users will have the option to purchase Brushed Silver or Matte Black Metal Link Bands for $200 each, further expanding customization choices.
The recent updates are already available for most features, with the exception of the new Metal Link Band colors, which will be rolled out in the coming days. Speculations suggest that the next iteration, the Google Pixel Watch 2, will be launched in the fall, promising even more exciting features for users.
As Google’s Pixel Watch continues to evolve and incorporate advanced capabilities, it aims to establish a competitive presence in the smartwatch market. With the introduction of blood oxygen tracking and other notable updates, Google is working to meet the growing expectations of its users and solidify its position among industry-leading smartwatches.
