Electronic Arts (EA) has changed its initial plan for the release of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. Initially, the game was slated to be exclusive to the latest generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, to leverage the advanced technology available on these platforms. However, in an earnings call, EA announced that the title will now be coming to the previous generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, due to the strong demand from the Star Wars community.
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, which is a direct sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 in April. However, the release date for the game on the last-gen consoles has not been confirmed yet.
The decision to bring the game to older hardware has raised concerns among gamers. Earlier this year, Jedi Survivor was highlighted in an article on disappointing PC ports due to performance issues, upscaling problems, and other technical glitches. This has left some players anxious about how well the game will run on the older Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
Despite the concerns, the move to release the game on previous-gen consoles is likely to widen the game’s audience and cater to those who have not yet upgraded to the latest gaming systems. As the Star Wars franchise has a strong and dedicated following, EA aims to satisfy the demands of the community by making the game accessible on a broader range of platforms.
