In the virtual world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players have discovered a small but significant error that has drawn attention—a flag hanging in the home of the hero, Miles Morales, displays the flag of Cuba, even though Miles and his family are of Puerto Rican descent.
As players swing through the bustling streets of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, they get to delve deeper into the life of Miles Morales, fighting alongside Peter Parker against various villains from the web-slinging universe. During moments of downtime, players get a glimpse of Miles in his family home, where the error in question became evident.
A vigilant Twitter user pointed out that the flag hanging in Miles’ living room is the flag of Cuba, while the Morales family hails from Puerto Rico. It’s worth noting that the Cuban flag features a red triangle with blue stripes, while the Puerto Rican flag displays a blue triangle with red stripes. Although there are some similarities, this design discrepancy has not gone unnoticed.
James Stevenson, the Director of Community at Insomniac Games, the developer behind Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, responded to the Twitter user’s observation. He confirmed that the developers are actively working on a fix for this oversight in an upcoming game patch. In a brief but reassuring reply, Stevenson stated, “Fix is coming for that.”
Fortunately, this flag-related issue has not marred the entire game. Players can spot the Puerto Rican flag, with its correct colors, on one of Miles’ alternate suits. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a diverse array of fantastic suits for players to enjoy, including the Evolved Suit, the Into The Spider-Verse Suit, and the Great Responsibility Suit, each showcasing a unique aspect of the up-and-coming superhero.
Moreover, the development team at Insomniac Games has announced plans for additional updates for Spider-Man 2. They are currently working on a New Game Plus mode, which will allow players to revisit and replay sections of the superhero game, providing even more exciting gameplay experiences.
Despite the flag-related error, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has achieved remarkable success, becoming the fastest-selling game produced by PlayStation Studios. It surpassed the milestone of selling over 2.5 million copies within just 24 hours of its release.
