Square Enix also took the opportunity during the Summer Game Fest to unveil a trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. While Rebirth is hinted to deviate from the established Final Fantasy 7 story, it remains unclear whether Ever Crisis will follow suit.
Given Ever Crisis’s objective of presenting a comprehensive collection of existing Final Fantasy 7 lore, it is unlikely that the game will veer far from the established narrative—at least initially. However, as demonstrated by the success of the Crisis Core remake, exploring the series’ rich past can be just as compelling as forging new paths.
