Final Fantasy 14 Welcomes Fall Guys Challenges in Exciting MMORPG Crossover

Platforming Fun Meets MMORPG Magic in Upcoming 6.51 Update

In a delightful fusion of platforming fun and MMORPG adventure, Final Fantasy 14 is set to introduce challenges inspired by the cult classic platformer Fall Guys as part of its upcoming 6.51 update on October 31. This exciting collaboration was unveiled during the Final Fantasy 14 London Fan Festival 2023 keynote address, accompanied by a trailer showcasing the whimsical platforming antics that await.

Fall Guys, hailed as one of the best indie games of 2020, is a platforming battle royale game where groups of adorable anthropomorphic beans navigate perilous obstacle courses in their quest for victory and survival.

As part of this collaboration, Final Fantasy 14 will introduce its unique set of Fall Guys-inspired trials, presented as a series of mini-games. Judging from the trailer, it appears that the MMORPG will faithfully recreate the iconic platforming levels of Fall Guys, but with a distinct Final Fantasy twist.

Director Naoki Yoshida disclosed that the new Fall Guys content will be designed for groups of 24 players, accessible to both individuals and groups. This crossover experience will become part of Final Fantasy 14’s Gold Saucer casino, a charming and multifaceted collection of mini-games and optional challenges.

Players can anticipate unlocking a variety of Fall Guys-themed rewards by completing challenges, including new outfits and adorable minions to accompany them on their adventures.

Final Fantasy 14 has a history of introducing platforming challenges and jumping puzzles, with the notorious Kugane Tower jumping puzzle capturing the attention of hardcore platforming enthusiasts striving for impressive world record times. Given this background, the collaboration with Fall Guys seems like a perfect fit for the MMORPG.

Yoshida also hinted at more exciting crossovers in Final Fantasy 14’s future. The game is set to receive a new questline based on the action RPG Final Fantasy 16, allowing players to fight alongside the protagonist, Clive Rosfield, from the single-player game.

Furthermore, Yoshida unveiled another thrilling crossover with Square Enix’s first Final Fantasy MMO, Final Fantasy 11. This crossover will manifest as a series of eight-person raids featuring a self-contained storyline and unique boss encounters, promising even more adventurous quests for the MMORPG community to enjoy.
