Enhancing the Starfield Experience: Mod Removes Tedious Temple Grind for Starborn Powers

Starfield, Bethesda’s highly anticipated spacefaring RPG, has drawn comparisons to Skyrim, and this connection becomes even more apparent when considering the Starborn Powers, akin to the famed Dragon Shouts. To unlock and upgrade these abilities, players must seek out Starborn Temples throughout the Settled Systems. However, the grind for these powers can be quite demanding, with players needing to visit a large number of Temples. A modder, ConnerRia, has devised a clever solution to streamline this process and enhance the Starfield experience.

Details:

Mechanically, Starborn Powers function much like Dragon Shouts from Skyrim. Players have a dedicated button to activate these powers, and they acquire and enhance them by discovering Starborn Temples, which serve as the equivalent of Word Walls from Skyrim. In contrast to Skyrim’s approximately 80 Word Walls, Starfield presents players with a monumental task—visiting 240 Starborn Temples to fully upgrade all 24 Starborn Powers across ten Starfield New Game Plus experiences.

Understanding that this grind could deter many players, even the most ardent Starfield enthusiasts, ConnerRia developed a mod that simplifies the process. This mod eliminates the need to revisit previously explored Temples. Instead, it automatically upgrades Powers each time players achieve Unity, a significant milestone in the game. While Starfield mods have already improved the base game, the release of Starfield’s official modding tools in early 2024 will enable even more substantial changes.

The concept of organic Power improvement through New Game Plus is a brilliant solution. By reducing the number of Temples players must visit, the momentum of New Game Plus remains unaffected by the Temple grind. This streamlined approach retains the best aspects of Skyrim’s Dragon Shouts while making the journey to maximize Starfield’s Powers a far more enjoyable and less tedious experience.
